Sang Matiz
Four musicians blending their individual heritage and musical blood lines to form a new band and a new sound. Start with two acoustic, rumba flamenco guitartists, Eddie Cabezas and Yuriza Jared. Both hailing from Lima, Peru, their music is not just infused with the genre of Spanish guitar, but with the rhythms and melodies of their homeland and the continent of South America. Add Yuriza's soaring vocals and that in of itself is a tantalizing combination. Now add the driving force of Okinawan born Latin percussionist Mark Escalera. Playing both cajon (a traditional peruvian wooden drum) and electronic percussion, Mark is able to fuse both traditional rhythms and modern rhythmic sophistication. Finally, round out the sound with the musical stylings of Californian-grown funk master Anthony Melville (of Greek heritage) on bass and vocals and you have a sound and music that is beyond Latin and world beat. |
